Severance pay calculator (Turkey)

This tool is for people working in Türkiye — it calculates under Turkish labour law (Laws No. 1475 and 4857).

This tool calculates severance (kıdem tazminatı) and notice pay (ihbar tazminatı) under Article 14 of Law No. 1475 and Article 17 of Law No. 4857 — Turkey's Labor Law. First pick why your contract ended: severance only arises for the reasons the law lists; an ordinary resignation is not one of them.

Why did your employment contract end?

Not your bare salary — add the monthly-equivalent value of regular, monetizable benefits such as travel, meal and bonus payments. This total is called the "dressed wage" (giydirilmiş ücret) and both severance and notice pay are based on it (Law No. 1475 Art.14 §8). Enter it wrong and the result is wrong.

The official ceiling in force as of July 1, 2026 was filled in automatically; you can change it.

The text of the circular behind this figure could not be read directly; the amount is used because several independent sources report it identically. Compare it with your payslip and change the field if needed.

What is the "dressed wage"?

Severance and notice pay are not based on the bare salary — they're based on the wage plus every regular, monetizable benefit the employee receives (Law No. 1475 Art.14 §8, referencing Law No. 4857 Art.32). Travel allowance, meal support, regular bonuses and premiums are converted to a monthly figure and added to the bare wage. You need to work this total out yourself; the calculator uses whatever figure you enter in this field.

Frequently asked questions

How much is severance pay for one year of service?

The law provides 30 days' wages in severance for every full year of service (Law No. 1475 Art.14). In practice, 30 days' wages equals one month's dressed gross wage. So an employee with exactly one full year of service gets severance equal to their dressed gross monthly wage — as long as it doesn't exceed the ceiling.

How much is one year's severance pay in 2026?

One year's severance equals the dressed gross monthly wage, capped at the official ceiling for the relevant half of 2026 (1 January–30 June: TRY 64,948.77; 1 July–31 December: TRY 73,729.87). Someone with a dressed wage of TRY 50,000 stays under the ceiling and is paid on the full TRY 50,000 (minus stamp duty); someone on TRY 90,000 is capped at the ceiling.

What is the severance pay formula?

Severance pay = (dressed gross monthly wage, capped at the ceiling) × (full years of service) + (the same wage) × (days beyond the last full year ÷ 365). Only a 0.759% stamp duty is withheld from the resulting gross figure; income tax is not withheld (Income Tax Law Art.25/7-a).

How much severance does someone earning TRY 30,000 get?

An employee with a dressed gross wage of TRY 30,000 and exactly one year of service — well under the ceiling — is entitled to the full TRY 30,000 gross; after the roughly TRY 227.70 stamp duty (0.759%), the net comes to about TRY 29,772.30. Two years of service doubles it (TRY 60,000 gross); six months of service gives roughly half, prorated by the remaining days.
