Solana's blockchain network recorded its highest daily transaction counts in several months this week, as a pickup in decentralized exchange trading and renewed interest in the network's decentralized finance applications drove a broad increase in on-chain activity.

The token itself traded near $168, up roughly 11% over the trailing week, outperforming both bitcoin and ether over the same period, according to data reviewed by the desk.

Total value locked climbs alongside price

Total value locked across Solana-based lending and trading protocols rose to its highest level since late last year, with several decentralized exchanges on the network reporting daily trading volumes that rivaled some of their Ethereum-based competitors.

Network fees, which had been a point of criticism during periods of congestion in prior cycles, remained low even as activity increased, a dynamic developers attributed to recent upgrades aimed at improving throughput during peak demand.

Analysts cautioned that network activity metrics can be inflated by automated trading bots and incentive programs, and recommended watching whether the current pickup in usage persists once any short-term promotional incentives roll off.
