Solana hits record token issuance amid memecoin surge

Solana set a new daily record for token creation this week as more than 263,000 new SPL tokens were minted on the network in a single day. The tally surpassed the peak seen during the late-2024 memecoin boom and marked the highest daily issuance level recorded on the chain.

Pump.fun drives launchpad activity

Memecoin launchpad Pump.fun was the main source of the new issuance. Launchpads on Solana accounted for 40,360 of the day’s tokens, and Pump.fun represented 34,184 of that total, making it by far the largest contributor.

A launchpad lets users create, list and trade new tokens without needing deep technical knowledge. By automating token creation and offering immediate liquidity and visibility, these platforms have helped lower the barrier to launching speculative assets on Solana.

What the record says about the network

The previous high-water mark came during December 2024, when daily issuance on Solana was estimated at roughly 40,000 to 50,000 tokens. Wednesday’s figure is therefore not just a new peak, but a sharp acceleration in token production relative to the prior memecoin cycle.

The pace of issuance highlights how concentrated activity on Solana remains around memecoin infrastructure. Pump.fun’s position as a leading Solana-native protocol by daily revenue also shows that token creation and trading continue to be tightly linked on the network.

For traders and investors watching Solana, the data points to an ecosystem where low-friction issuance can quickly swell activity. It also raises the familiar question of how much of that volume reflects lasting demand versus short-lived speculation tied to launchpad-driven token launches.
