Strategy has added Bitcoin to its treasury for the first time in two months, making a fresh purchase that extends its lead as the largest corporate holder of the cryptocurrency. The company bought 4,603 BTC for $370 million, the latest sign that it is still using market access to build exposure even after a long pause.
Funding the latest purchase
The acquisition was financed with proceeds from a $602 million sale of common stock, filing details show. Strategy also directed part of that cash toward balance-sheet moves outside Bitcoin, including a boost to its USD cash reserve and a repurchase of its perpetual STRC preferred stock.
The company said it spent $30 million to increase its cash reserve and $151.8 million to buy back STRC. That leaves the Bitcoin purchase as only one part of a broader capital allocation strategy that mixes treasury accumulation with liquidity management and preferred-share reduction.
The new coins were bought at an average price of $80,318 each. After the latest transaction, Strategy said its holdings reached 845,050 BTC, acquired at a total cost of $63.3 billion and an average purchase price of $75,413.
What the filing means for Strategy
The latest move is Strategy’s first corporate Bitcoin acquisition since mid-June, ending a two-month stretch without additions. For markets that track the company as a proxy for institutional demand, the resumption of buying signals that it is still willing to accumulate on a large scale despite recent volatility.
Shares of MSTR were little changed in pre-market trading on Monday after falling more than 7% on Friday. The reaction suggests investors were watching both the size of the Bitcoin purchase and the company’s concurrent use of capital for cash and preferred-stock actions.
The filing underscores how Strategy now operates with several financial levers at once: issuing equity, managing liquidity, and buying Bitcoin when it chooses to re-enter the market. That structure continues to make the company one of the clearest examples of a corporate treasury built around digital assets.
